Coaching Moment #171 Three Memories

Coaching Moments used to be exclusively for my coaching clients and Champions members. We've now opened them up to share them with you via this blog. Coaching Moments are shared each Friday and meant to encourage you on your path to greater enjoyment and/or success- whatever you happen to be reaching for. They remind us to think about our paths, our decisions and our priorities. Hopefully they make you think about something and refocus. Enjoy.

#171 Three Memories

Instead of three wishes, I want you to think of 3 memories of the most joyous times in your life. What are they? Who were they with? What were you doing? And, then I want you to make sure you are living in a way that will easily foster more great memories like that to be formed.

An Exercise in Recall

Take an hour this week and sit down with old photo albums. Do this alone or with someone you care about.

Revisit places, people, feelings and events of last month and/or years ago. Think about how you felt at that time in your life. What was going on with you.

Ultimately, I want you to recognize the journey you've been on... and how far you've come. Are you happier now than ever? Or do you still have some work to do to have the life you want?

Spend some time with the old you. Enjoy your old self and find pleasure in the days gone by. If you have any peace to be made with where you were or where you are, do so. Now is the time to make great memories to relive in 10 more years.

Happy memories. And, even happier memory making!

Send Someone A Reminder of the Past

As I prepare for my wedding, I'm also multitasking my clearing clutter from my house. Anyone who knows me would know this is typical. I like to stay busy with a few projects at the same time- for variety sake.

As I'm combing bookshelves, drawers, keepsake boxes and such, I'm finding photos and trinkets from years ago. They trigger a flood of enjoyable memories with friends.

I decided to use some of those tokens in the welcome bags of my wedding guests. Its a way to show them I cared enough about them and that event to save something- and now am passing it on to them to evoke wonderful memories too.

I encourage you to visit your keepsake boxes and send a few of the items to those who shared them. Its a great way to reconnect with a friend- no matter how close or far away they are.

We often close keepsake boxes for years at a time. Perhaps you should share the contents with your partner, children or a new friend. Keep it on your dining room table for a week- to explore with others and share wonderful moments of the past.
